Welcome!

I am stoked to have you here! Originally from South Africa, I am happy to call New Zealand my home (although I’ll always remain a Springbok😉).

If you don’t know how to pronounce my name, that is okay. I’m used to people calling me anything and everything else. But in case you want to get it right, try Ill-suh 😉

I studied interior design after school, worked in retail and owned my own furniture store for many years in Cape Town. However photography is my true passion and I can’t imagine doing anything else. Trust me, I’ve tried and I came back with even more passion. My journey started in 2007 assisting my sister with wedding videography. Photography was naturally born from that and the passion for it grew in my heart immensely. Today I get to do both for a living and feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

I play a few instruments but my favourite is the clarinet. I played in a few orchestras for many years, even toured Europe with them when I was 13 and playing in an international competition in Vienna.

In the photo here you will see me with my beautiful bunch of boys. My husband Jean and boys Adriaan and Daniël. They support me 100% and I can’t imagine life without them. I’m also the youngest of 3 girls and daughter of the most amazing, supportive parents. See some photos below of my own story up until today.

I am based in Cambridge, Waikato and I love to travel to the ends of the earth, or wherever your love story takes us. I travel anywhere around the country or the world for weddings & elopements! Whether it’s close like Auckland or far like Europe I’ll go wherever your story takes us. Travel charges may apply, but I’m happy to work with you to find a solution that fits your needs. Being one of many wedding photographers out there I’m happy you found me!
